What will you do as a Safety Engineer? This position oversees and implements the Health & Safety responsibilities. The team member will provide advice and guidance to employees and contractors on company health and safety standards and applicable regulations, as well as promoting safe behaviors, and assisting with hazard identification and control to mitigate risks with ongoing and planned activities. This position champions and promotes a strong SHEQ culture throughout the organization and drives continuous improvement efforts with a sense of urgency and in accordance with the regulatory imperative as well as Company values.

What do we expect from you as a Safety Engineer?\n - Must possess or be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) as required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act.
\n - College degree in occupational health and safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred, but not required.
\n - At least 5 - 7 years of plant or terminal experience required
\n - NFPA 1081 Industrial Fire Brigade Exterior and Interior Certifications a plus.
\n - NIMS 100, 200, 300 a plus.
\n - CSP, CFPS Certification(s) a plus.
\n - Operations/Safety experience at a bulk liquids multimodal storage and transfer facility preferred
\n - Experience working at a PSM and/or RCMS-certified facility preferred
\n - Knowledge of current health and safety regulations - OSHA, DOT, Coast Guard

What does your day look like? Your core responsibilities are: \n - Leads and directs the development, training, implementation, and monitoring of Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) policies, procedures, and programs; develops, implements, and complies with Company global SHEQ standards, practices, and applicable codes; maintains the continued quality of Company process systems; supports development, implementation, and measurement of SHEQ procedures, practices, projects, and recordkeeping.
\n - Facility Emergency Response Team member. Responds to emergencies as required (i.e., CIMA).
\n - Participates and implements the terminals safety and health policies and procedures by ensuring that all processes and modifications to existing processes have been critically reviewed for process safety, risk management, environmental, and general safety and health considerations in accordance with regulatory requirements (OSHA, PSM, and EPA RMP) and Company's Process Safety Standards.
\n - Conducts daily safety observations throughout the terminal.
\n - Provides technical review of Management of Change (MOC) documents as needed.
\n - Facilitates the Safety Committees and sub-committees including monthly and weekly Committee communication initiatives.
\n - Owns and leads the contractor safety management program.
\n - Manage the PPE program for the facility.
\n - Support the sites for execution, maintenance, and updates of the Emergency Response Plan.
\n - Prepares and delivers presentations at SHEQ meetings; supports others by preparing reports/presentations pertaining to process safety, quality and risk management.

Work Environment This position requires an employee to be in an office environment as well as exposed to outside elements. Most extreme elements are heat in the summer months of up to 104°F (40°C) and some exposure to cold of generally no less than 15°F (-10°C) in the winter months. There will be exposure to various chemicals and compounds, including fumes and smells, some of them hazardous. The employee may enter confined spaces and work in elevated environments. Employees must be able to wear PPE required by the location. General office noise may be experienced and louder sounds and vibrations when outside. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All environments are safe with appropriate PPE.
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, speak and hear. The employee is required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; the employee may be required, on occasion, to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may be required to climb ladders/storage tanks up to 50' in height. The employee may be required to enter confined spaces. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employees may be required to travel by air, rail, bus, or car.
