This job is based in Sarnia. You will report to the Director of Operations and will play a crucial role in supporting our team in sourcing components, vendor selection, and managing inventory.

Job Summary:

The Procurement and Receiving Specialist at AlumaPower in Sarnia, ON, plays a key role in sourcing electronic, chemical, and mechanical components, managing inventory, and coordinating shipments. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position involves working closely with vendors and internal teams to ensure timely deliveries, maintain quality standards, and support multiple departments. The role requires technical procurement expertise, forklift operation, and experience in global sourcing, all while upholding confidentiality and company values in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Job Description:

  • Purchase electronic, chemical, and mechanical components to support engineering, prototyping and testing services department
  • Review, evaluate, and monitor department purchase requisitions and planned requirements for proper authorizations
  • Responsible for the inventory management program. Identifying key inventory to track and setting proper min/maxes
  • Expedite purchase orders to ensure department’s KPI for on track deliveries are met
  • Ship parcels/skids via courier and LTL
  • Operate forklift and other material handling equipment to receive/ship product
  • Communicate supplier quality issues and rejections with appropriate vendors, entering NCR’s
  • Work cross functionally to support multiple departments across the company
  • Assist in technical sourcing of components, meeting with vendors virtually and on site
  • Coordinate vendor managed inventory agreements

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years experience in technical procurement
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field
  • Technical expertise with electronical component and mechanical sourcing
  • Experience shipping courier and LTL
  • Familiar with Dangerous Goods shipping
  • Familiar with reading engineering drawings
  • Past experience with contract manufacturing, component sourcing in the battery, automotive and energy sector
  • Forklift certified
  • A self starter with ability to set and handle multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Past experience using ERP systems
  • Experience in global sourcing
  • Coordinating international shipments and working with customs broker
