What you will be doing

1. Financial Accounting & Compliance

• Ens ur e accounting accuracy and compliance with local regulations and corporate policies.
• Maintain accurate financial records that reflect the company ’ s business activities
• Focus on local compliance by ensuring adherence to Japanese financial regulations, tax laws, and internal policies.
• Prepare and submit statutory financial reports in accordance with J-GAAP and supporting Umicore Financial Reporting Standards (UFRS).
• Maintain strong working relationships with auditors, and tax advisors.

• Approve personal expense posting and oversee local accounting adjustments
• Execute vendor payments through the Payment Factory and E-bank system.

2. Business Partnering & Communication

• Serve as the main point of contact for finance-related matters between Japan entities and the regional finance operating team(HUB) .
• Provide financial insights and strategic guidance to local and regional teams .
• Support financial reporting alignment between operational teams and finance functions .
• Participate in cross-functional projects to enhance financial processes .

3. Tax

• Oversee tax accounting, including corporate tax, VAT, and deferred tax reporting .
• Support tax-related audits and inquiries from tax authorities.

4. Reporting & Audit Support

• Coordinate financial audits and ensure compliance with reporting standards .
• Assist with internal and external audit requirements .
• Support corporate financial reporting .
• Prepare government statistical reports.

5. System & Process Improvement

• Support SAP and financial system enhancements to improve operational efficiency.
• Provide recommendations to improve accounting processes and maintain accurate financial records

Who we are looking for

Functional requirements (Education, years of experience in different areas, technical skills, …)

• University degree or higher, major in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration is preferred .
• 5 + year’s practical experience in financial & tax accounting.
• Experience of g eneral accounting , reporting and audit
• Good knowledge of local GAAP(JIFRS) and IFRS reporting.
• Good knowledge of PTP a n d OTC
• Year-end closing / Statutory reporting & Year-end Tax filing
• SAP – FICO module experience
• Good office computer skills (MS office package e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Good communication skills – Englis h ( Chinese capability is a plus )
