Responsibilities

Société Générale’s Financial Crime Compliance ("FCC") department, located in Montreal, is responsible for supporting the U.S. operations to ensure compliance with Anti-Money Laundering, Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act, AML Act 2020, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, OFAC and Sanctions regulations. The department performs, among other responsibilities, AML transaction monitoring, management of the tools used for Know Your Customer processes, and advisory and control functions across SG US bank and broker dealer businesses.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily operational reviews, escalations, and regulatory reporting related to the FCC Program
  • Assist with the Financial Crime Risk Assessment, including collecting and analyzing customer and transaction/activity data, coordinating with business and appropriate stakeholders, identifying areas where controls may need enhancement, among other actions, and drafting reports on the results which are clear, concise, and provide value to management
  • Execute internal controls testing and ensure tracking and completion of action plans as applicable
  • Perform KYC due diligence reviews and/or transaction monitoring reviews on new and existing clients for AML purposes
  • Prepare presentations and management information reporting by sourcing data from key systems and key business partners
  • Update and coordinate FCC related policy and procedure revisions
  • Assist with and coordinate training initiatives as needed
  • Provide suggestions to Management on potential opportunities to consider for optimizing processes for improving the review process and document as appropriate
  • Responsible for the compliance of FCC related projects, including deliverables related to internal reviews or the regulators

Studies & experience:

  • Graduate with a Master's degree from a Business/Engineering School or University with a specialization in Business, Finance, or Law
  • A previous experience in Financial crime compliance or Risk management at another institution would be appreciated

Language skills:

  • Fluent in English

Operational, technical & soft skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient/Good command of MS Office
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently on tasks with minimal supervision
  • Effectively collaborate with team members
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized
  • Applying project management skills to handle various tasks and ad-hoc requests in a rapidly moving environment while adhering to specific quality and productivity guidelines and specified timeframes
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Excellent research skills

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in Montreal is to begin in January 2026, but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 24 months.

In case a visa is necessary, please make sure your passport is valid up to 6 months after the end of the VIE contract to not delay your departure.
