We are looking for an Underwriter to join our team in our Vancouver office!

As a Commercial Underwriter, you will act as a key liaison between TSW and our broker partners. You will be responsible for developing and growing complex commercial risks and business by writing new business, managing a renewal portfolio and providing in-person consultations, and represent TSW at broker meetings, industry events, and client presentations while maintaining profitability, and delivering exceptional response time.

Your day as an Underwriter

• Underwrite basic to moderately complex books of commercial P&C products, coverage, pricing, production and delivery, risk management, and managing local brokerage plans.
• Evaluate risks and make underwriting decisions based on company guidelines, risk appetite, and pricing strategies.
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients, providing exceptional customer service and delivering value-added solutions.
• Manage the submission, quoting, and binding processes for new and renewal business, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness.
• Collaborate with other underwriters, brokers, and internal teams to drive profitable growth and achieve assigned monthly sales goals.
• Negotiate policy terms and conditions with brokers and clients, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze data and trends to identify new business opportunities and develop marketing strategies to attract new business.

Our ideal candidate

• 3 to 5 years of experience in P&C underwriting, with a focus on commercial lines and preferably with an MGA.
• Strong technical knowledge of P&C insurance products and services, with an ability to apply this knowledge in a creative and innovative manner.
• Proven record of accomplishment of underwriting profitability and growth targets.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Good knowledge of the MS Office Suite;
• Proficiency in data analysis and Excel. Experience in data visualization tools; an asset.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to think strategically and translate insights into action.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and precise.

The expected salary for this role ranges from $75,000 to $120,000. Annual salary will be determined by factors including prior experience, location, business segment, and relevance of the candidate’s skills to the role.
