TEPF - Trades Coordinator (Southern Alberta)

The Educational Partnership Foundation (TEPF) is seeking a passionate and experienced education focused coordinator to join our dynamic Trades Careers team in Southern Alberta. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in education—such as a teacher, career counsellor, or education administrator—with knowledge of the skilled trades and Alberta’s apprenticeship system.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of education and industry and is eager to support Alberta youth in discovering fulfilling careers in the skilled trades. You’ll work closely with school districts, First Nations communities, industry stakeholders, and training providers to help students explore the wide array of opportunities available to them.

Priority will be given to applicants with a background in education, as this role requires a deep understanding of school systems, student engagement, and career pathway development. Second considerations for Journeypersons with strong communication skills and skilled trades will also be considered.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in the education system—preferably as a teacher, guidance counsellor, administrator, or education specialist
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for education and a genuine desire to help students discover their future.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude toward working on a team.
  • Need a valid driver’s license and clean drivers abstract.
  • Knowledge in skilled trades and/or familiarity with Alberta’s apprenticeship system is a strong asset.

PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

General

  • Oversee the program coordination in Southern Alberta.
  • Report to the Director of Trades and, to the President and CEO.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify opportunities for program enhancement, gather feedback from stakeholders, and implement strategies to continually improve engagement and outcomes. Report on these activities to the Director of Trades.
  • Support the High School Trades Career Program by working directly with districts, schools, and educators to recruit and guide students.
  • Provide support to the Indigenous Trades Career program, this will require engagement with first nations communities.
  • Travel to various trades training partner centers is required. You will oversee programs that expose students to various trade professions, encouraging exploration and interest in skilled trades careers.

Event Coordination

Lead the planning and execution of regional events including:

  • Student information sessions
  • Recruitment events
  • Career fairs
  • Completion celebrations
  • Community engagement activities

Measurement

  • Update KPIs and performance data in the tracking metrics.
  • Build a consistent model for completion ceremony that can be used for all trades career programs.
  • Work with team members to track performance.

Expansion

  • Working with the Director of Trades and CEO, identify priority areas in terms of geographical locations and existing training facilities.
  • Identifying potential school districts to develop programs

Student Bursaries

  • Disperse bursary funds to successful candidates.
  • Work with TEPF media team to create content for social platforms.

Brand and Recognition

  • Represent TEPF at events across Southern Alberta including career fairs, expos, and school-hosted activities.
  • Deliver student and parent information sessions and speak at promotional events.
  • Build relationships with school districts to support recruitment and engagement efforts.

Marketing

  • Work with media team to create current and up to date marketing resources and media campaigns.
  • Recruit students, teachers, and parents to participate in promotional videos, testimonials, and public events.

Administration

  • Provide reports to CEO for the Board of Directors
  • Provide monthly activity reports to Director of Trades Careers

Other

  • Assist the TEPF team with fundraising events, information sessions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Support the Director of Trades Careers and President & CEO with additional duties as needed.

Travel

  • Some travel required to attend meetings with TEPF partners.
  • Occasional overnight travel (2–3 times every few months) may be required outside of the Calgary area.
  • Local day trips within Calgary and surrounding areas as needed.

Hours

  • Regular in-person engagement with schools, training centers, and community partners is expected.
  • Typical workday is 9:00 – 5:00 pm
  • While occasional remote work may be permitted, this role requires a strong physical presence in the field and with partners.
