This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Technical Manager to join a global data centre organisation and oversee the technical operations of cutting-edge data centre facilities in Osaka, Japan.
As a Senior Technical Manager, you will be part of the site’s Operations Team and take ownership of all technical aspects of large-scale data centre environments, with a strong focus on electrical infrastructure and operational excellence.
Oversee the data centre’s technical systems, including electrical distribution, UPS, generators, fire safety, security, and building management systems
Plan, schedule, and manage both preventive and emergency maintenance tasks
Maintain uninterrupted support for critical loads using validated operational procedures
Implement strategies to ensure continuous availability and resilience of all technical systems
Lead and supervise contract staff, coordinating training and performance plans
Audit and oversee services delivered by external vendors and contractors
Manage budgets, costs, and resource allocation across technical operations
Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and standardisation across the site’s engineering functions
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and design teams to ensure optimised technical solutions
Strong technical background in large-scale data centre operations, particularly electrical systems
Extensive experience in facility management or engineering within high-availability environments
Excellent problem-solving, analytical and organisational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Project, with strong technical documentation abilities
Fluent verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English
Flexibility to respond to operational issues or emergencies outside normal working hours
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field (preferred)
Class 2 Chief Electrical Engineer Licence or higher is advantageous
Permanent position based in Osaka, Japan
