This is an exceptional opportunity to make a significant impact on a global scale.The OpportunityAs Legal Director, you will be at the forefront of legal governance, providing strategic counsel and managing legal risks across the organization. Your responsibilities will include:•Leading legal governance for domestic offices and overseas subsidiaries. •Developing and implementing risk management strategies aligned with business objectives. •Leading negotiations for major contracts and managing litigation, including intellectual property matters. •Overseeing contract reviews and ensuring compliance. •Establishing and operating compliance programs and education initiatives. •Handling legal matters related to business development, such as M&A and licensing transactions. •Managing litigation, dispute resolution, internal and external investigations, and collaborating with external counsel. •Mentoring and managing a team of two managers. QualificationsTo excel in this role, you should possess:•A minimum of 6 years of in-house legal experience. •At least 3 years of experience in international legal affairs. •Strong legal acumen and the ability to handle diverse legal matters. •Proven experience in managing and mentoring subordinates. •Business-level English proficiency (TOEIC 800 or equivalent). Preferred Qualifications:•Legal experience within the manufacturing industry. •Attorney qualification (Japan or foreign). •Proficiency in Chinese or Dutch. Compensation and Benefits•Director Level Position: Competitive salary ranging from ¥8.5 million to ¥13 million annually (base salary). •Incentive Plan: Performance-based incentives. •Comprehensive Benefits: Includes commuting allowance, social insurance (health, welfare pension, employment, workers' compensation), and retirement benefits. •Work-Life Balance: Flexible working hours with no core time, and generous annual leave (127 days per year, including weekends, holidays, and company-specific holidays). •Support Systems: Benefits include a certified qualification acquisition system and educational/nursing care support. •Work Environment: A hybrid work style is offered, balancing work from home and office presence, requiring flexibility to attend the office as needed. •Location: Tokyo (Shinagawa) or Fukuoka. A Glimpse into the TeamYou will be joining the Legal Affairs Organization, reporting to the CLO, and working alongside two managers. The team is experiencing growth due to an increase in legal consultations and contract reviews, both domestically and internationally, and in preparation for a potential IPO, there is an increase in compliance, governance and risk management related work.
