Position Overview

As part of our expanding commitment to safety, we’ve created a new role: Health & Safety Lead within our Operations group. In this role, you’ll be the lead in rolling out new safety programs across multiple provinces — ensuring consistency, training, and hands-on support as they are deployed in the field.

The Health & Safety Lead will work across facilities in Québec, Kirkland Lake (Ontario), and Truro (Nova Scotia) , supporting local Health & Safety Coordinators and ensuring compliance, inspections, and continuous improvement. Working closely with the H&S Supervisor, Advisors, and Plant Managers, this role is central to strengthening safety culture across our operations. Regular travel (up to 40%) is required.

The position may be based at one of the following Canadian locations:

  • Gatineau, QC
  • Saint-Laurent, QC
  • Delson, QC

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the rollout of new health & safety programs across assigned facilities; provide training and deployment support.
  • Partner with local H&S Coordinators to ensure consistent application of safety standards and procedures.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and safety walkthroughs, coach and mentor staff on findings and corrective actions.
  • Deliver onboarding and ongoing training for employees and contractors.
  • Co-chair Joint Health & Safety Committees and support safety meetings at multiple sites.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses; track corrective actions and report progress.
  • Support emergency preparedness, injury claim management, and return-to-work planning.
  • Share best practices across sites to standardize programs and elevate safety performance.
  • Monitor legislative changes and ensure site compliance with provincial and federal requirements.
  • Writing, critiquing and peer review of H&S programs and processes
  • Provide effective training and mentoring of H&S staff

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Health & Safety or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of H&S experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • French/English bilingualism written and spoken.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 40%.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health & safety legislation (Québec, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and federal).
  • Skilled in inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
  • Strong facilitation, training, and coaching skills.
