Job Description

We are seeking an experienced professional based in Japan to oversee local operations of a company focused on trading financial instruments on a part-time basis. The country manager will serve as a key liaison between our global finance team and local partners, acting in a role similar to a corporate secretary with responsibilities in financial oversight and operational coordination. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, legal, or regulatory domains, preferably within the digital asset, trading, or crypto sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure full compliance with Japanese corporate, accounting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise and oversee statutory reporting, tax filings, and all regulatory submissions in coordination with local advisors and accountants.
  • Monitor evolving financial, tax and digital asset regulations in Japan, particularly those impacting crypto and trading activities.
  • Act as the company’s formal point of contact with local regulatory bodies, financial institutions, auditors, and legal representatives.
  • Supporting, banking relationships, and management of local service providers.
  • Proven track record of managing banking relationships for a crypto asset focused company.
  • Collaborate with external consultants, including, accountants, legal counsel, compliance experts, and auditors to streamline operational and compliance functions.
  • Coordinate cross-border operations, aligning local activities with global strategies and teams.
  • Support global finance, legal and business development departments.

Requirements:

  • Fluent in both Japanese and English (spoken and written).
  • Solid experience in financial services, crypto, or trading environments.
  • Knowledge of Japan’s legal, crypto regulatory, and financial frameworks.
  • Experience working with banks, auditors, legal counsel, in Japan.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with a proactive approach to issue resolution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in law, finance or accounting.
  • A university degree in economics, law, business administration, finance or accounting.
  • Experience with blockchain, DeFi, or digital asset trading platforms.
  • CPA, CFA, CAIA, ACCA, legal licensure (Bar qualification), or other relevant professional certifications.
