Job Description

An Epic Beaker Analyst configures, implements, and supports the Epic Beaker Laboratory Information System (LIS), bridging clinical workflows and IT by designing system builds, managing interfaces (like HL7/FHIR), troubleshooting issues, and training users to optimize lab efficiency and revenue cycle, requiring strong Epic Beaker certification and expertise in lab operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Configuration: Build and maintain Beaker CP (Clinical Pathology) and AP (Anatomical Pathology) workflows, order sets, templates, and logic.
• Integration: Manage interfaces with lab instruments, middleware, and other systems (e.g., EpicCare, Radiology) using standards like HL7/FHIR.
• Support & Troubleshooting: Resolve user-reported issues, manage service requests, and perform system maintenance.
• Testing & Validation: Develop and execute validation protocols, regression testing, and manage release planning.
• Collaboration: Work with lab directors, IT teams, revenue cycle, and end-users to align system functionality with operational and financial goals.
• Training: Develop training materials and educate clinical staff on system usage and new functionality.
• Optimization: Drive enhancements to improve efficiency, data accuracy, and the user experience.

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Epic Beaker Certification (required).
• Experience in laboratory operations (Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, etc.).
• Strong understanding of order-to-cash processes, billing, and coding.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with IT best practices, change control, and HIPAA compliance.
