AECOM is seeking numerous Archaeology Field Technician I team members to be based out of our Peterborough, Sault St Marie, Barrie, Mississauga or Hamilton office.
Archaeological Field Technicians participate in Stages 2-4 archaeological assessments as described by Ontario’s Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism. This is primarily a labour job involving the hand digging of archaeological test units and screening the resulting dirt to look for artifacts of past human activity. They also participate in Stage 2 pedestrian survey work which involves walking across ploughed archaeological fields looking for artifacts on the surface to identify new archaeological sites. This position is a good fit for people who love working outdoors, learning new things, and working on teams.
Please be advised that LIUNA has been certified by the Labour Relations Board to bargain on behalf of persons in the above noted position. The parties have entered into a collective bargaining agreement and any candidate who is hired into the noted role will be kept informed of any changes to the terms & conditions of their employment because of that process.

Highschool + 2 Years of relevant experience.
Excavate & operate in a consistent and controlled manner based on the direction given by the Field Supervisor.
Under the Collective Agreement between AECOM and LiUNA, the compensation for Archaeology Field Technician I at AECOM for the 2025 field season will be $24.48/Hr.
